Ebeltoft & The Frigate Jylland

Ebeltoft is undoubtedly one of Denmark's most beautiful small towns. If you are into half-timbered houses, topped cobblestones and blooming hollyhocks, you will immediately fall in love with the old market town. Ebeltoft, got its market town rights in 1301 and thus is Region Djursland's oldest market town.

The old market town environment of Ebeltoft reflects a piece of Danish history over several centuries. All year round, the city's guests are invited to walk on their own along the cobbled streets, Nørrebakke, Adelgade, Overgade, Nedergade, Fedt Mikkels Gang to, for example, the Town Hall Square with the old Town Hall.

In addition to the cozy town, Ebeltoft also offers one of Denmark's biggest sights, the Frigate Jylland, which is worth a visit for both young and old. The frigate Jylland is the world's longest wooden ship and full of stories and activities. The frigate's guides tell the exciting story about "Jylland" as a royal ship and about the frigate's efforts during the naval battle of Heligoland on 9 May 1864.
